died Sunday, January 4, 2009 at her home.  She was born June 21, 1931 in Josephine, PA, the daughter of the late Todd Rager and Lela Mae (Helman) Rager.  She is a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Coral, Pa.  Dorothy was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse having worked at Indian Haven for 15 years, Scenery Hill for 3 years and Torrance State Hospital for 2 years.  He is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Ruth Johnston & hus. PYDA, THOMAS J., 82, BLACK LICK

died suddenly Monday, December 15, 2008 at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.  He was born February 10, 1926 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, the son of the late John Pyda and Cecelia (Mackowiak) Pyda.  He attended the Black Lick United Methodist Church, Black Lick, PA.  He served with the US Navy Seabees during WW II.  He was a life member of the Indiana VFW and he loved to golf.  He retired from Conrail.  He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Margaret "Peggy" Pyda of Black Lick, PA, son, Ronald Campbell & wife Wanda of Robinson, PA, son, Donald Campbell & wife Marlene of Latrobe, PA, son, Ted Campbell & wife Kim of Delaware, son, Randy Campbell & wife Jan of Blairsville, PA, son, John Pyda & wife Debbie of Dawson, PA, daughter, Susan Pyda of Mt. Pleasant, PA, sister, Rose Barrick of Mt. Pleasant, PA, sister, Dolores Boytin of Mt. Pleasant, PA, 8 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, Frank, Stanley & Michael Pyda and sister, Mary Pieszak.  In keeping with Tom's wishes there will be no visitation.  A private service will be held at a later date.

died Sunday, December 14, 2008 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, PA.  She was born December 7, 1921 in Harrison City, PA, the daughter of the late Stanley & Catherine Nowaski.  She was a member of the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA.  Stephanie was employed for many years at Fours Company, Blairsville, PA.  She is survived by a son, Samuel Overton Jr. & wife Ellen Kay of Treasure Lake, PA, grand daughter, Cindi Overton & fiance Cubby Rippey of Indianhead, PA, grand son, Craig Overton of Greensburg, PA and great grand daughter, Madison Rippey.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel H. Overton in 1996, 5 sisters and 1 brother.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.  A wake service will be held Tuesday evening at 8:30 PM in the Funeral Home.  A blessing service will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home.  Fr. died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Keeper of the Flame Morewood, Blairsville, PA.  She was born June 16, 1912 in Virginia, MN, the daughter of the late, Jacob Nahkala and Ida (Buckman) Nahkala.  She was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, PA.  Pansy retired after 30 years service from Federal Lab in Tunnelton, PA.  She is survived by niece, Ida Faye Byron & hus. William of Waupun, WI, nephew, Jack Alexander & wife Tricia of Kenai, AK, nephew, James Nahkala & wife Judy of Gilbert, MN, niece, Murlene Tahija & hus. Larry of Tower, MN, nephew, Alan Grumbling & wife Joyce of Apollo, PA, nephew, Ken Fails & wife Cindy of Vandergrift, PA, nephew, Kevin Fails & wife Fran of Marion Center, PA, nephew, Cliff Fails & wife Fran of Kanaan, CT, special friends, Jack & Patty Soler and many Great Nieces & Nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Merrill E. died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.  He was born October 31, 1924 in Blairsville, PA, the son of the late Archie M. Curnow Sr. & Helen Nevada (Slippy) Curnow.  Archie worked on his Family Farm.  He also drove bread truck for Millbrook, Marhoefer & Interstate Bakeries.  He worked for Indiana County Green Thumb program, Chevy Chase & Indiana County Work Shop.  Archie is survived by his wife, Helen Rose (Hulena) Curnow, daughter, Helen Mae Palek & hus. John "Jack" of Latrobe, PA, daughter, Karen M. Cashdollar & hus.  Robert T. of Shelocta, PA, grandchildren, Paige & Brett Cashdollar, sister, Edith "Sis" Curnow of Blairsville, PA, brother, James Curnow of Wisconsin, sister "Bee" Nira Lipovsky of California, brother, Frank Curnow of Blairsville, PA and several Nieces & Nephews.  He is preceded in death by his brother, John Curnow & sister, Grace Curnow.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 7, 2008 from Noon-4 PM.  There will be no evening visitation.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA.  She was born June 4, 1914, the daughter of the late George J. McClellen and Dora (Byrd) McClellen.  Willa belonged to the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, PA.  She was a graduate of Freeman School of Nursing at Howard University, Washington, DC where she studied under Dr. Charles Drew.  She worked at Leech Farm Hospital in Pittsburgh and Aspinwall VA Hospital before retiring from Torrance State Hospital.  She is survived by her nephews, George M. Harris of Blairsville, PA, Dr. Frederick L.H. Sabido & wife Jonelle of NY, Derek M. Sabido of NY, great niece, Jasmine Kendall of Blairsville, PA, great nephew, Frederick W. Sabido of NY and great niece, Stephanie Rose Sabido of NY.  Willa is preceded in death by her sisters, Penelope McClellen, Lucindia Harris and Almeda "Pat" Sabido, brother, Samuel Abner McClellen, niece, Clara "Lynn" Harris West and niece, Carla Y. MCGARVEY, GERALD L., 69, BLAIRSVILLE

died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at his home.  He was born June 20, 1939 in Bolivar, PA, the son of the late Lewis and Esther (Krouse) McGarvey.  He belonged to Sovereign Grace Church, Indiana, PA.  Gerald loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors.  He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He retired from FMC after 25 years of service.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret J. "Peggy" (Repine) McGarvey, daughter, Joy L. Scribe & hus. Mark of Blairsville, PA, grandchildren, Darik McGarvey, Brinton Scribe, Mark Scribe, Shaniah Scribe, Adam Magalich, and Leah Magalich, brother, Lewis McGarvey of Bolivar, PA, sister, Gloria LaMantia of Bolivar, PA, sister, Camilla Shean of Brenizer, PA, special Niece, Scottie Hart and several other Nieces & Nephews.  Gerald is preceded in death by son, Brinton LeRoy McGarvey and sister, Esther Burkett.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 from 7-9 PM and also Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.  A funeral service will be hled on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home.  Rev. died Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.  She was born April 10, 1919 in Blairsville, PA the daughter of the late Carl Calabrese and Sue (Sundry) Calabrese.  She was a member of SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville.  Ida was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the America's Court of St. Theresa.  She is survived by a son, Albert A. "Skip" Ruda of Blairsville, PA, brother, Clyde Calabrese of Blairsville, PA and several Nieces & Nephews.  Ida is preceded in death by her husband, Albert A. Ruda in 1997, brother, William Calabrese, brother, John Calabrese, sister, Mary Bell, sister, Margaret Calabrese, brother, Arthur Calabrese and brother, Roger Calabrese.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.  The CDA will recite the rosary Tuesday at 3:00 PM in the Funeral Home.  A wake service will be held Tuesday at 8:30 PM also in the Funeral Home.  A Funeral Mass will be held at SS Simon & Jude Church on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 10:00 AM.  Fr. SMITH, LOIS M., 78,  BLAIRSVILLE

died Friday, November 14, 2008 at Excela Health Hospice Center, Jeannette, Pa. She was born September 19, 1930 in Blairsville the daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred (Clark) Johnson.  Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville and belonged to the Rebecca Circle at the church. She retired as a cashier at the former A&P super market in Blairsville. Lois is survived by a daughter Sandra Mazzoni and a son Larry Smith and wife Deborah both of Blairsville. Six grand children, Justin and Jason Smith, Matthew, Kayla, Erin and Amy Mazzoni. One Great grand daughter, Kendal Escalona.. Several Nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis E. Smith in 1999 and five brothers, Donald, Gerald, Edward, Alvin and Kenneth Johnson. Also a sister Patricia Brown and a son-in-law Vincent Mazzoni in 2008. The Family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home, Rev. Terry Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow in the Blairsville Cemetery. died Sunday, November 9, 2008 at her home.  Born December 18, 1921 in Penioa, PA, daughter of the late Thomas & Helen (Biro) Plesnick.  She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Bradenville, PA.  She was a member of the Burrell Rod & Gun Club where she enjoyed fishing.  She also enjoyed the outdoors and flower gardening.  Mary retired from the Dietary Department of Torrance State Hospital.  She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Ann Valencic of Euclid, OH, daughter, Mary Virginia Meligo & hus. Paul of Willoughby, OH, daughter, Carol Jean Devereaux of Brenizer, PA, grandchild, Nancy Valencic of Cleveland, OH, grandchild, Marianne Ferenchak & hus. James of Concord, OH, great grandchild, Jared Ferenchak, sister, Ann Schalcosky of Brenizer, PA, several Nieces & one Nephew.  She is preceded in death by her husband, John J. Banko of Blairsville, PA, son, David Bridge & wife Mary Ellen of Oil City, PA, son, Charles "Ebb" Bridge & wife Kathy of Greensburg, PA, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and sister, Imogene Lowman of Scotsdale, AZ.  She is preceded in death by brothers, Ney, William & Everett Brickell, sisters, Irene Greene, Cora Greene, Bertha Resinger and Margaret Dunlap and son-in-law, Francis Banko.  The Family will receive friends on Friday, November 7, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the Funeral Home.  Rev. died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at York Hospital, York, PA.  She was born June 6, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Dr. Raymond Wivell and Anna (Conley) Wivell.  She enjoyed oil painting, crocheting, cats and bingo.  Kind and sweet, Sally touched the hearts of many.  She is survived by her children, Edward Bosco, Susan Bosco-Dibiase & Larry, Linda Belice & Rick, Karen Bosco & Todd, Nancy Williamson & Dave and James Bosco, grandchildren, David Williamson, Michael Bosco & Dell Bosco, sister, Gertrude Connors, twin brother, Stephen Wivell, sister, Joanne Strasbaugh and brother, Edward Wivell.  Sally is preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. RAY, LILA JEAN, 84, DERRY, FORMERLY OF BLAIRSVILLE

died Sunday, October 26, 2008 peacefully at her home.  She was born June 23, 1924 in Cokeville, PA, the daughter of the late James B. Cummings and Anna (Ferguson) Cummings.  She was a member of Ft. Palmer Presbyterian Church.  She loved caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Jean also loved traveling.  Last November she went to Hawaii for 14 days.  She retired from Torrance State Hospital in 1976.  She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Powers & hus. Steven of Phoenix, AZ and Dolores McGraw & hus. Jesse of Blairsville, PA, also grandchildren, Lori Patty of CA, Suzanne Giebner & Family of Phoeniz, AZ, Scott McGraw & Family of Tipp City, OH, Kathy Ross & Family of Blairsville, PA, Michael McGraw of Hermitage, TN, Jesse McGraw III & Family of Sioux Falls, SD, Lisa Cofield & Family of Farmington, MN, Wendy Draeger & Family of Farmington, MN, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.  She is prceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray in 2006 and sisters, Viola B. KENGERSKI, EDWARD P., SALTSBURG

died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 in Loyalhanna Twp., Pa.  He was born August 21, 1920 in Kelly Station, Pa., the son of the late Joseph and Anna Rose (Frankowski) Kengerski.  He belonged to St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church, Saltsburg, Pa.  He worked for Westmoreland Coal Company and retired from Federal Lab, Tunnelton, Pa.  He was a veteran of WW II in the US Navy.  He was a member of the Saltsburg American Legion #57.  Ed was an avid polka dancer and enjoyed playing cards at Nowrytown unitl he was stricken with Mascular Degeneration.  He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jackie (Tosi) Kengerski, brother, Stanley Kengerski & wife Helen of Avonmore, PA, sister Felicia Kusma of Saltsburg, PA, sister, Mary Olups of Pittsburg, PA, 17 Nieces & Nephews and 6 Godchildren.  He is preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve (Gartley) Kengerski, and sisters, Adele Daniels and Elizabeth Sobers.  The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Kelly L. died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.  He was born August 2, 1957 in Indiana, PA,, the son of Edward B. Hart of Brenizer and the late Geraldine O. (Clark) Hart in 2002.  Bill was of the Methodist Faith.  He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Low Rider and playing his guitar.  He also enjoyed reading, music, art, antique cars and spending time with his Family.  He is survived by his sisters, Nancy L. Moyer & hus. Ronald of Robinson, PA and Geraldine "Sissy" Dustin & hus. Ray of Blairsville, PA, brothers, Edward B. Hart Jr. of Bradenville, PA and John A Hart & wife Debbie of Clarksburg, PA, 3 Nieces, 2 Nephews and 2 Great Nieces.  In keepintg with Bill's wishes, visitation and services will be private.  Rev. died Sunday September 28, 2008 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born June 10, 1957 in Latrobe the son of Walter "Gene" Rager and Dolores (McGuire) Rager of Derry. Tom attended the Cultural Ave. school in Greensburg, Pa. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially cookouts and he enjoyed his dog Spike. In addition to his parents Tom is survived by 5 Brothers Bernard Rager & wife Cristal of Newton, NC, Daniel Rager & wife Kara of Latrobe, Shawn Rager & friend Michelle of Statesville, NC, Thad Rager & friend Kathy Machak of Bradenville, and Justin Rager & fiance Lynn DeCario of Blairsville. He is also survived by a Uncle, DeWayne McGuire & wife Sandy of Reynoldsville and an Aunt, Patricia Fox of Timonium, MD. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. died Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Communities of Indian Haven, Indiana, Pa. He was born March 6, 1922 in Blairsville the son of the late Clair and Bessie (Beaufort) Depp. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blairsville and was retired from Westinghouse. Ray was a WWII Veteran of the US Army having served with the 99th division as an ambulance driver in the battle of the Bulge. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Genevieve (Hudec)Depp and one son Raymond H. Depp Jr. and his wife Katherine. Also two grandchildren Virginia Depp and Carolyn Mitzel and her husband Michael. In keeping with Ray's wishes there will be no visitation. Services and Interment will be in the Veterans Cemetery at West Palm Beach, Fla. died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Loyalhanna Care Center.  He was born August 2, 1926 in Armstrong County, PA, the son of the late John P. and Sarah (Barber) Anderson.  He attended SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville.  He was a veteran of WW II in the US Army Air Force.  He retired from the Union Switch and Signal Company, Pittsburgh, PA.  He is survived by several nieces & nephews.  Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Janick) Anderson in 2006, sisters, Galalla Mae Mintor, Mary Townsend, Rose Anderson and Eleanor Jamison, brothers, Wilbur Anderson, Leonard K. Anderson and Clenton S. Anderson.  The Family will receive friends on Monday, September 8, 2008 from 5-9 PM.  A blessing service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM.  Fr. died Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.  He was born April 25, 1974 in Latrobe, PA, the son of the late Jeffrey L. Palmer and Brenda (Bernard) Palmer Rovison of Blairsville.  He worked for the US Forestry Service as a Park Ranger & Forest Fire Fighter, working in parks in Arizona & Montana.  He enjoyed traveling the world, surfing, snowboarding, mt. biking, mt. climbing and nature in general.  He was a 1992 graduate of Blairsville High School and a 1997 graduate of University of Pittsburgh earning a bachelors degree in Philosophy.  He is survived by his mother, Brenda (Bernard) Palmer Rovison & hus. John of Blairsville, PA, sister, Natalee C. Palmer of Berlin, MD, sister, Lindsey M. Meola of Indiana, PA, step-brother, Jared T. Rovison of Blairsville, PA, mat. grandmother, Betty Hoe & hus. died Friday, August 22, 2008 at his home after a brief battle with lung cancer.  He was born September 28, 1926 in Cokeville, PA, the son of Charles Palmer and Anna (Kettering) Palmer.  He was a US Army Veteran of WW II, 148th 4th Engineer Maintenance Co.  Sam used to play baseball for the Cokeville Cardinal Baseball Team and he also enjoyed pitching horseshoes.  He retired from Blairsville Machine Products in 1992.  He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn (Markel) Palmer, son, Sam F. Palmer of Aultman, PA, son, Jeff M. Palmer & wife Kolleen of Indiana, PA, daughter, Susan J. Palmer at home, daughter, Deborah Naugle & hus. Clyde of Latrobe, PA, special niece, Frances "Suzi" Furey & hus. Jeff, 11 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, sister, Grace Markel & hus. Harry, sister, Marjorie Pividori & hus. died Monday, August 11, 2008 at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.  He was born December 14, 1921 in Indiana, PA, the son of the late Blair Cummins and Beulah (Hanna) Cummins.  He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Indiana, PA.  Paul was a life member of the VFW Post #1989 of Indiana, PA and Clymer American Legion.  He was also a member of BPOE #406.  He served in the US Army during WW II.  He was an avid golfer and loved sports cars.  He worked for R&P Coal Co., Sam Jack Co. and Harry Neal Trucking.  He is survived by a wife of 66 years, Virginia T. (Roadarmel) Cummins, son, James P. Cummins of Elizabethville, PA, daughter, Rebecca A. Kimmel of Saxonburg, PA, son, Donald L. died Monday, August 4, 2008 at her home.  She was born March 11, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Kenneth Smith and Anna Georgina (Bowden) Smith.  She was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, PA.  She was a former beautician at Nanni's Beauty Salon of Blairsville. She was also a member of the BPOE #406 Ladies Auxiliary.  Janet enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing in her card clubs and painting.  She was a Charter member of the Chestnut Ridge Ladies Golf Association, Friday Senior Bowling League and Silver Sneakers.  She is survived by her son, William E. Thoma Jr. & wife Patti of Keller, TX, daughter, Dee LouAnn Wilkison & hus. Brian of Irving, TX, son, James M. Thoma & Tammy Wunsch of Midlothian, TX, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister, Marian Benzenhoefer of Pittsburgh, PA, sister, Virginia Smith of Blairsville, PA, brother, Kenneth Smith & wife Cathy of Blairsville, PA and several Nieces & Nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, William E. died Monday, July 21, 2008 at UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA.  He was born August 13, 1942 in Indiana, PA, the son of the late Michael T. Shulick and Suzanne (Crucknol) Shulick.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Black Lick, PA.  He attended the US Military Academy at West Point, graduating with the Class of 1965.  He served in the US Army & US Air Force.  He is survived by a brother, William T. Shulick of Bairsville, PA and several cousins.  The family will recieve friends on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9,  A Parastas service will be held Thursday eve at 8:00 PM. A Panachida will be on Friday morning at 9:00 AM followed by a Burial Service at St. John The  Baptist Orthodox Church in Black Lick, PA at 9:30 AM.  Fr. Pitirim Stehnach as Celebrant. died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA.  She was born July 26, 1917, the daughter of the late Edward Hart and Lydia Louella (Richards) Hart.  Esther was a member of SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville.  She loved working in her yard and doing arts and crafts.   She aslo enjoyed going to her card club.  She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Francis C. Cribbs and Margaret Ellen (Grey) Cribbs.  He was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville.  He served as a sergeant in the US Army duinrg WW II.  He also served in the national guard.  Arthur was a member of the BPOE #406 and VFW Post #5821 both of Blairsville.  He was also a former member of the Blairsville Young Mens Volunteer Fire Company.  He retired from Penna. Railroad.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, M. died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Greensburg Care Center, Greensburg, PA.  She was born July 15, 1912 in Blairsville, PA, the daughter of the late Innocenzo and Marie Gasbarro.  She was a member of SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA.  Argie belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America Court of St. Theresa and also the Ladies Auxiliary of the Blairsville Italian Club.  She is survived by her daughter, Joann Moffa & hus. Daniel of Blairsville, PA, daughter, Mary Ann Otremsky & hus. Richard of Monroeville, PA, son, William J. died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon, Pa. She was born August 13, 1916 in Blairsville, the daughter of the late Ernesto and Dirce (Venturini) Pesci. She was a former member of SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville. Jane was a graduate of Shadyside Nursing School. She was a Lt. Colonel in the US Army Nursing Corps. retiring after 32 years service. She served in WWII in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres. Following her Military career she was employed as a Pittsburgh Public School Nurse. Jane is survived by 2 nephews Ernest Pesci and wife Carol of Indiana, Pa. and Edward Pesci and wife Elizabeth of Greensburg, Pa. She is also survived by 3 nieces Nancy Pesci of Tumwater, Wa., Rose Marie Waraks of Pittsburgh and MaryAnn Husk and husband Steve of Arlington, Va. Two Aunts also survive, Mary Quilico and Ida Forni both of Blairsville, Pa. Jane was preceded in death by 2 brothers Dante and James (Gino) Pesci and a sister Corinne Waraks. died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Life Care Hospital, Wilkinsburg, PA.  He was born December 10, 1922 in Johnstown, PA, the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Ferlan) Pentrack.  He was a former member of SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville.  He was an avid golfer and bridge player.  He served in the US Army during World War II.  Steve worked 30 years in a management position at the Nuclear Fuels and Elecro-Mechanical divisions of Westinghouse Electric Corporation.  He is survived by a wife of 57 years, Helen M. (Benick) Pentrack, daughter, Laurel Spindler of Jamul, CA, son, Wayne Pentrack & wife Mary Anne of Fox Chapel, PA, and grandchildren, Margaret and Craig Pentrack of Fox Chapel, PA.  He is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Donald Pentrack.   The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Funeral Home.  A funeral mass will be held at SS Simon & Jude Church at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 11, 2008.  Fr. Mary is survived by a brother Albert Strojni of Mass. and a step-sister Rose Nesser of Chicago, Il. Also several nieces and nephews. Mary was a 1937 graduate of Blairsville High School. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Graceton, Pa. She was preceded in death by her first husband Michael Vresilovic and her second husband Joseph Fertal. Four sisters also preceded her, Margaret Strojni, Barbara Evich,  Agnes Palguta and Catherine Popp. She was also preceded by a brother Edward Strojni. died Friday, May 16, 2008 at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.  He was born April 28, 1927 in Putneyville, PA, the son of the late George and Luella Milliron.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He was a US Navy veteran serving during World War II.  He enjoyed farming and working on cars.  He was a retired over the road truck driver.  He is survived by a wife Margaret L. died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at his home. He was born July 18, 1951 in Indiana, Pa. the son of Paul P. Chapla and the late Christina (Belash) Chapla. Mark was a 1969 graduate of Blairsville High School and had been employed at McCreary Industrial Products. He is survived by his father and a sister Judy Gulas and her husband Ted of Apollo, Pa. Also surviving are 2 nephews David and Teddy Gulas. Mark is also survived by a special friend Kathy Yosurack of Indiana and a good friend Gary Bain. LUTZ, JAMES C., 74, BLAIRSVILLE

died Monday, May 5, 2008 at Excella Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born April 9, 1934 in Lucinda, Pa. the son of the late Arthur and Anna (Porter) Lutz. Jim was a self employed truck driver and member of the Blairsville Young Men's Volunteer Fire Co. he was also a member of the Blairsville Italian Club. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Carol (Johnson) Lutz. He is also survived by a son Charles James Lutz and wife Deborah of St. Petersburg, Pa. and 2 Daughters Virginia Kreschbaumer and husband John of East Brady and Leslie Retchey and husband Tom of Emler, Pa. 10 Grand Children and 5 Great Grand Children also survive.  He is also survived by a step-daughter Michelle Johnson of Indiana, Pa. Four brothers and three sisters. In keeping with Jim's wishes there will be no visitation or services at this time. Memorial donations may be made to the Blairsville Fire Company at 51 W. LONG, MERLE C., 77, BLAIRSVILLE

died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at his home. He was born September 28, 1930 in Cokeville, Pa., the son of the late Ellis and Anna (Spires) Long. Merle was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a life member of the Blairsville VFW Post # 5821 and the Blairsville Eagles # 1488. He had worked at Latrobe Steel and was a supervisor at Florence Mining Company.  Merle is survived by 2 sons Dennis Long and wife Susan of Blairsville and Larry Long and wife Sally of Camp Hill, Pa.. Also 2 daughters Kay Wolford of Blairsville and Kathie Kirkland and husband Jeff of Clarksburg, Pa. 8 Grand Children and 10 Great Grand Children. He is also survived by a brother Earl Long of Blairsville. He was preceded in death by his Step-mother Stella Long and his wife Kathryn L. Long in 2003. Also a brother Floyd Long. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Rev. Timothy Monroe will officiate. THOMPSON, ALICE C., 93, JOSEPHINE, PA.

died April 25, 2008 at Latrobe Hospital. She was born April 15, 1915 in Enterprise, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles B. and Nellie (Smith) Thompson. Alice was a member of the Blairsville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1942. She is survived by a son Jonathan W. Thompson and wife Shirley of Blairsville and a son in law Charles Monaghan of Baldwinsville, NY. 7 grandchildren, 4 great grand children and 3 great great grand children. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Ward Thompson in 1964 and a daughter Arlene Monaghan. She was also preceded by a grandson Greg Monaghan and 3 brothers George, Wayne and Glenn Thompson. Also 2 step brothers David and Thomas Vanetta and 3 infant siblings. In keeping with Alice's wishes ther will be no visitation or services. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.

  

BENNETT, FREDA V., 90, BLAIRSVILLE 

died Friday, April 25, 2008 at her home. She was born on December 30, 1917 in Acosta, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles Andrew and Nevada Bell (Huffman) Bennett. She was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church in Blairsville. Freda enjoyed playing cards and her needle point, she also enjoyed bowling. She had previously worked in a sewing and clothing packing plant in the 1960's. Freda is survived by a daughter N. Gayle Truax of Blairsville and two sisters Grace Francher of Farmington WV., and Agnes Whinnie of Mantua, OH. She is also survived by a brother Charles E. Rexrode and wife Helen of WV. 6 grand children, 13 great grand children and 2 great great grand children. A daughter in law Donna Bennett and a special friend Liz Staschak. She was preceded in death by a husband Dale Eugene Bennett in 1982 and a son Dale E. Bennett Jr. also 1 brother Clyde Rexrode. The family will recieve friends on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. died Monday, April 21, 2008 at Lynn Haven Nursing Home, Black Lick, PA.  He was born on January 13, 1920 in Wilkinsburg, PA, son of the late Paul E. Austin and Blanche M. (Livingston) Austin.  He was a design engineer for Mine Safety Appliance  Company.  He is survived by sons, Barry D. Austin & wife Joan of Milford, DE, Paul W. Austin & wife Theresa of Bowdoinham, ME, and Mark E. Austin & wife Tina of Black Lick, PA, 9 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and sister, Pauline Wardrop of Elizabethtown, PA.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Tate) Austin, sister, Dorothy Haggard and brother, David Austin.  In keeping with Harry's wishes, there will be no visitation or services.  Interment will be beside his wife in Ocala, Florida.

Stuchal & wife Barri of Blairsville, PA, daughter, Connie L. Morris & friend Ron Gorton of Blairsville, Pa., daughter, Kathy F. Shields & husband Jimmy of Blairsville, Pa., grandchildren, Shani Morris of Blairsville, Pa. and Scott Stuchal & wife Ann of Blairsville, Pa. and great grandchildren, Cole & Chase Stuchal.  She is preceded in death by her husband, William Charles Stuchal in 2005, grandson, Chad W. MAZZONI, VINCENT E., 51, BLAIRSVILLE

died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Shady Side Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born October 9, 1956 in Indiana, Pa. He was a son of the Late Edward Mazzoni and Dorothy (Gallo) Mazzoni of Blairsville, Pa.  He worked for Acrotool Inc. of New Kensington, Pa. He was a 1974 graduate of Blairsville High School and 1995 graduate of Penn State. He is survived by his wife of 28 years Sandra L. (Smith) Mazzoni, his mother and four children, Matthew, Kayla, Erin, and Amy Mazzoni all of Blairsville, Pa.one Grand Daughter Kendal Escalona of Blairsville. Vince is also survived by three sisters Anne Jackson of Phoenix, AZ, Constance Williams and husband Kurtz of Thornton, CO, and Teresa Mazzoni-Douglas of Denver, CO. and one brother Paul Mazzoni of Blairsville, Pa. died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, Pa. She was born November 17, 1918 in Sonora KY., the daughter of the late James Lambert and Grace (Wood) Copelin. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church, Blairsville, Pa. As a Pastor's wife she fulfilled many duties with her husband's ministry in many churches. Frances is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Rev. Norman H. Engell of Blairsville and three children, Norman N. Engell and wife Kathy of Arlington, WA, Dorothy Lockard and husband Marvin of Black Lick, Pa. and Eunice Sanford and husband Larry of Howell, MI. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, James Engell and wife Jill, Gretchen Alexander and husband Ed, Becky Daugherty and husband Scott, Pamela Faulkner and husband Wayne, Bethany Lockard and fiance Adam Baxter, Rachel Young and husband Garry. and Steven Sanford. She is also survived by eleven great grand children. She was preceded in death by two brothers James and Fred Copelin. The Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 3, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9. died Friday, March 28, 2008 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA. She was born March 18, 1943 in Latrobe, PA, the daughter of the late Maurice and Sophie (Kubinec) Alkire. She was of the Methodist faith. Donna retired from Torrance State Hospital as a nurses aid. She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Su Alkire of Blairsville and a brother Timothy Alkire of Indiana. She is also survived by a niece Stacy Simmons and husband David of Shelocta and two nephews Shawn McCune and wife Lorraine of Greenfield, IN and Shayne McCune and wife Rebecca of New Alexandria, Pa. She was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy McCune and a nephew Shevin McCune and an infant brother. The family will recieve friends on Sunday eve from 7-9 PM and also on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9. died Friday, March 21, 2008 at his daughter's home.  He was born December 26, 1917 in Uniontown, PA, the son of the late Clair and Erma (Bliss) Bailey.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville, PA.  He worked for 35 years as a bricklayer for Custodis Construction.  He also was a former Blairsville Borough Manager for 10 years.  Arthur was a member of the Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM.  He was a US Army Veteran during WW II.  He was one of the founders of the Indiana County Sports Hall of Fame.  He is survived by his daughter, Cindy K. died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Mt. View Specialty Care, Greensburg, Pa. He was born on May 4, 1923 in Cokeville, PA, the son of the late Merle and Isey (Piper) Houser.  He was a retired construction worker out of Local # 1451 and worked for Ross & Kennedy Company. Gene served with the US Army during WW II and was a member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Vivian (Clair) Calabrese Houser, a son Bradford Houser and wife Darla of Alabama, a step-daughter Sherry Hackworth and husband Paul of Columbus, OH., two step-sons Vincent Calabrese and wife Shauna of Blairsville and Brant Hazlett and wife Stephanie of Ill. He is also survived by a brother Charles Houser of NC and four sisters, Naomi Henry of Blairsville, Edith Ascentta of Jeannette, Joyce Polojak of Jeannette and Yolanda Kelley of Blairsville. Also nine grand children. He was preceded in death by two brothers Dale Houser and Lloyd Houser and two sisters Madelynn and Ethel. died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at his home in Wall, PA.  He was born on February 26, 1937 in Blairsville, PA, the son of the late Walter & Elizabeth (Diven) McCune.  He retired from Thermo Industry's and formerly worked at Westinghouse and Dietrich Industry.  He  was a member of the Blairsville Eagles.  He was a US Army Veteran in the 11th Airborne unit.  He formerly owned McCunes Woodshop in Burrell Twp.  Dale was an avid Civil War buff and enjoyed coin collecting.  He was a former Boy Scout Leader, Little League and Pony League coach and fireman in Claridge.  He is survived by his wife, Marie (Collins) McCune, son, Shawn T. McCune & wife Lorraine of Greenfield, IN, son, Shayne P. McCune & wife Rebecca of New Alexandria, PA, daughter, Stacy Lee Simmons & husband Dave of Shelocta, PA, grandchildren, Amy, Matthew, Sarah & Deanna McCune and Zach, Casey & Jamie Simmons, step-grandchildren, Meghann & Cassie Steel, sister, Imogene Doucette of Arlington, VA, sister, Marilyn McCune of Black Lick, PA, niece, Peggy Su Alkire of Blairsville, PA and also several other Nieces & Nephews.  He is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Dorothy M. died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at her home.  She was born on October 31, 1921 in Old Colony, PA, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Gazda) Svitlik.  She was a member of the St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Bradenville, PA.  Anna spent her childhood years in Czechslovakia.  She loved flowers and was a wonderful ethnic cook.  She loved making traditional ethnic foods.  She worked out of her home as a seamstress for many years.  She is survived by a husband of 61 years, John Pollock Sr. of Brenizer, PA, son, John Pollock Jr. & wife Sharon of Ligonier, PA, grandchild, Rachael Dindak & hus. Jeff of N. died Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA.  He was born on July 28, 1918 in Xenia, OH, the son of the late Edward F. and Amy Viola (Gray) Long.  He was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church.  Ed retired from Torranace State Hospital having worked at the Power House Plant for 32 years. He loved to watch sports of all kinds, especially Nascar.  He is survived by a wife of 60 years, Lucille (Brown) Long, daughter, Marilyn F. Long of Blairsville, PA, brother, Lawrence V. Calhoun Jr. of Flower Mound, TX, daughter, Virginia Chavis & hus. Phil of Paulden, AR, daughter, Angela R. died, Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. She was born on April 12, 1920 in Indiana, Pa., the daughter of the late Nicholas and Christina DiNunzio. She was a member of SS Simon & Jude Catholic Church, Blairsville. She is survived by Three Daughters, Diana Sepic and husband Melvin of Uniontown, Pa. Kathy Muschott and husband Pete of Vero Beach, Fla. and Joanne Richey and husband Randy of Uniontown, Pa. Three Grandchildren Douglas Sepic of Uniontown Marissa Martin and husband Anthony of Alphretta, Ga. and Jennifer Cuti and husband David of Port St. Lucie, Fla. Two Great Grandsons Adam Joseph Sepic and Luke Peter Cuti. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Joseph S. Kovalish in 1998.She was also preceded by two sisters Mary Nardone and Nellie Parchuke and four brothers Sebastian, Alfred, Albert and Marshall DiNunzio. The family will recieve friends on Friday Feb 1 from 2-8 PM. A wake service will be held Friday eve at 7:30 PM in the Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM in the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, Pa. The Rev. Fr. Chester J. Raimer as Celebrant. died, Monday, January 21, 2008 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, Pa.  She was born on October 29, 1916 in Blairsville, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles Miller and Ruth (Auen) Miller.  She was a member of the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Blairsville, PA.  She was also a member of OES # 166 of Blairsville. She is survived by a husband of 47 years, Orrin L. "Andy" Anderson, daughter, Peggy Sullinger & husband Glenn of New Castle, PA, grandchildren, Janis Sullinger of Santa Cruz, CA and Jill Reinhardt & husband Ron of Vale, NC, and sister, Catherine Miller of Pittsburgh, PA.  She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary "Billie" Mulligan.  There will be no visitation.  A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 38 W. died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.  She was born on May 14, 1923 in Lewisville, PA, the daughter of the late Leonard Dixon and Carrie (Ewing) Dixon.  She was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville, PA.  She enjoyed baking pies, listening to country music and spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, Willie.  She had formerly been employed at Federal Lab, Tunnelton, Pa.  She is survived by son, Ron J. Kaylor & wife Mary of Blairsville, PA, son, Greg L. Kaylor & wife Trisha of Latrobe, PA, grandchildren, Dakota & Mackenzie Kaylor of Blairsville, PA, sister, Betty Dixon of Lewisville, PA, sister, Dottie Smith of Longview, WA and brother, Jim Dixon & fiance Barb Vinkler of Lewisville, PA.  She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Select Specialty Hospital, Latrobe, PA.  He was born on October 29, 1924 in Cokeville, PA, the son of the late John S. Long and Marie Foster.  He was a former member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, PA and most recently a member of Clarksburg Presbyterian Church.  He was a member of the Blairsville Fire Dept. for over 30 years.  Member of the Kiwanis Club, former Elder at the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville.  He enjoyed woodworking and teaching his children in his wood shop.  He retired as a foreman of Blairsville Machine Products.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wanda R. (Smith) Long, daughter, Marsha Jones & husband Tom of Katy, TX, son, John E. Long Jr. & wife Pam of Blairsville, PA, daughter, Pamela J. Williams & hus. Lisle of Plum Boro, PA, grandchildren, Tom & John Jones, April Stevenson, Andy & Amy Williams and Stephanie & Chris Long, great grandchildren, Brandon Jones, Emma & Savanna Stevenson & Clayton J. died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Excela Health Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, PA.  She was born on October 15, 1932 in Torrance, PA, the daughter of the late Elder and Sarah (Clark) Moritz.  She was a member of the Torrance United Methodist Church, Torrance, PA.  She was a member of AARP.  Mary enjoyed taking bus trips to various locations and enjoyed traveling.  She retired from Torrance State Hospital as a Phychiatric Aide.  She is survived by her husband of 56 years, George W. Feldbusch, son, George William Feldbusch Jr. & wife Becky of Blairsville, PA, son, Brace W. COWAN, Eugene C., 88, Brenizer

died Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Bethlen Home, Ligonier, PA.  He was born on November 11, 1919 in Gray Station, PA, the son of the late John and Sarah (Harvey) Cowan.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Local 1451 of which he was a member for over 50 years.  He loved to build model airplanes but his real passion was hunting, fishing, camping and his Family.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Kovalish) Cowan, son, Patrick E. Cowan & wife Charmaine of Blairsville, PA, daughter, Sandra B. Fritz & husband Edwin Jr. of Latrobe, PA, grandson, Timothy P. Cowan & wife Darlene of Blairsville, PA, grand daughter, Tammy L. Pizer & husband Robert of Black Lick, PA, 4 great grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Nicholas P. & Tyler D. Cowan and Kaylee & Kristina Pizer, sister, Helen Hutchinson Noel of Texas, many Nieces & Nephews.  He is preceded in death by brother, John "Jack" Cowan, sisters, Naomi Riffle and Sally Dixon.  In keeping with Gene's wishes, there will be no visitation.  A private interment will be held in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, PA.  Memorial donations may be made to Bethlen Home Activity Fund, 66 Carey School Road, Ligonier, PA 15658.  The Family would like to thank everyone at Bethlen Home for their outstanding care and compassion shown to Gene & our entire family during his illness.

died Friday, November 16, 2007 at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born October 18, 1927 in Lewistown, PA, the son of the late Samuel and Grace (Druggs) Stroup. He retired after 35 years as a Clinical Administrator at Torrance State Hospital. Ted was a graduate of Derry High School and Juniatta College. He recieved his Master's Degree in Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a Medic during the occupation of Japan in WW II. Ted is survived by four children Karen Beth Stroup of Manheim, PA, Kevin E. Stroup & wife Susan of Aston, PA, Jay W. Stroup & wife Meghan of Orchard Park, NY and Denise I.Kennedy & husband John of Shelocta, PA. Nine Grandchildren, Jesica, Joshua, Yuri, Cody, Cassidy, Alexandra, Trevor, Austin & Ayden. he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Joan (McCune) Stroup in 1988 and a son Jeffrey James Stroup in 1985. The family will recieve friends on Monday, November 19, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Rev. Raymond Kerr will officiate. SHROM, Joseph A., 65, Blairsville

died Thursday, October 18, 2007 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, PA.  He was born December 17, 1941 in Indiana, PA, the son of the late Joseph A. Shrom and Edna M. (Graff) Shrom.  He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville.  He was a member of the VFW Band and also member of the former Blairsville Jay Cee's.  He retired from Blairsville Machine Products after 35 years of service.  He also drove truck for Butler Trucking.  He is survived by a wife of 44 years, Dorothy J. (Bertolino) Shrom, daughter, Christine E. Webster & hus. Marvin of Blairsville, PA, daughter, Heidi L. Hoke & hus. George III of Purcellville, VA, grandsons, Joseph Webster and George Hoke IV and sister, Sandra L. Shrom of Pittsburgh, PA.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 21, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.   A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home.  died  Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Keeper of the Flame, Morewood, Blairsville, PA. He was born June 21, 1920 in Blairsville, PA, the son of the late Guy and Ernesta (Bardone) Farina. He was a member of the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville. He served in the US Navy during WW II. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and also the Blairsville Italian Aide Society and the Latrobe Moose. He retired from the former Fours company of Blairsville. He is survived by 2 brothers Victor DeLuca & wife Mary of Blairsville and Robert Farina & wife Gloria of Springfield VA. He is also survived by his sister Eva Silveri of Homer City, PA. Many Nieces & Nephews. He was preceded by 2 brothers Frank & Raymond Farina and 2 sisters Sally Elliot & Mary Adams. The Family will receive friends on Friday from  2-4  & 7-9 PM.
