ZUBALIK, DR., DAVID R., 77, BLAIRSVILLE, PA

died on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at his home.  He was born October 14, 1932 in Greensburg, PA, the son of the late Anthony and Catherine (Sova) Zubalik.  He operated Zubalik Chiropractic in Blairsville, PA for 40 years.  He was a 1950 graduate of Subiaco Boys Academy in Paris, Arizona.  He then served in the US Army in the Korean War.  He then graduated from the Palmer Chiropractic College in 1964 located in Davenport, Iowa.  He was a member of the American Legion and the American Chiropractic Society.  He enjoyed fishing and refinishing furniture, traveling and spending time with his family.  He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marilyn (Colench) Yarchak Zubalik of Blairsville, PA, mother-in-law, Mary Colench of Blairsville, PA, son, David H. GORTON, JULIA C., 88, BLAIRSVILLE, PA

died on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Green Meadows, Latrobe, PA.  She was born July 1, 1922 in Cokeville, PA, the daughter of the late Karl and Wilhemina Patz.  She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, PA where she was a former deacon.  Julia was a retired teller at the Blairsville National Bank now known as PNC.  She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #166.  Julia is survived by her daughter, Maxine Neal Zuzik & husband Denis of Latrobe, PA, grandchild, Emily A. Zuzik of New York City, NY, grandchild, Neal J. Zuzik of Lexington, KY, grandchild, Mary Andrechik & husband Jon of Annapolis, MD, great grandchild, Zachary T. loving Son, Father and Brother died on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at his home.  He was born April 28, 1985 in Indiana, PA, the son of Joseph G. Shields and Tammy (Hankinson) Shields both of Blairsville, PA.  Jeremy was an active member of the Black Lick Volunteer Fire Company.  He also belonged to the Black Lick Sportsman's Club and the Burrell Twp. Rod and Gun Club.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, driving in demolition derby's and Ford trucks.  He also enjoyed playing paintball and spending time with Jamie, his Son, Family & Friends.  He is survived by his parents, eight month old son, Jeremy Landon Shields, girlfriend, Jamie Quick of Blairsville, PA, brother, Joseph A. died on Friday August 13, 2010 in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA. He was born September 10, 1936 in Latrobe, PA, the son of the late Walter and Madelyn (Levrio) Rager. Gene retired from Derry Westinghouse and ICI. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He especially liked working in his orchard. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Dolores (McGuire) Rager of Seger, PA, son, Bernard E. Rager & wife Cristal of Newton, NC, son, Daniel L. Rager & wife Kara of Latrobe, PA, son, Shawn M. Rager & Michelle of Statesville, NC, son, Thad Rager of Bradenville,PA, son, Justin L.  died Friday, July 30, 2010 at Loyalhanna Care Center, Latrobe, PA.  She was born June 3, 1919 in Blairsville, PA, the daughter of the late Charles C. Muir and Mary J. (Kenney) Muir. Mildred was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, PA. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #166 of Blairsville and the Daughters of Hebron at Church. She was a retired School Board Secretary at Blairsville High School. Mildred is survived by sister-in-law, Leonora Muir of Blairsville, PA, nephews, Don and Kenny Muir of Blairsville, PA and 2 Great Nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband, Waldo C. McKee, step-daughter, Bonnie Pagano, brother, Clyde Muir and infant sister, Mary Jane Muir.  Family will receive friends on Monday, August 2, 2010 from 3 - 4 PM ,the time of the service, at the Funeral Home, Pastor Beverly Banyay officiating. died on Monday, July 19, 2010 at Keeper of the Flame Morewood, Blairsville, PA.  He was born February 11, 1921 in Blairsville, PA, the son of the late Matthew Paouncic and Anna (Durasin) Paouncic.  He was a member of the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA.  Joe was a member of the Local 373 Carpenters Union, Pittsburgh, PA.  He was a US Navy Veteran of WW II having served in the Pacific Theatre.  Joe was a member of the American Legion and the VFW Post #5821.  He was a huge Steeler and Pirates fan.  Joe enjoyed woodworking, gardening and hunting.  He is survived by his son, John A. Paouncic & wife Deborah of Slickville,PA, daughter, Cheryl S. Cinti & husband Michael of Claridge, PA, son, Joseph P. Paouncic & wife Suzanne of Greensburg, PA, son, Robert J. HELM, NANCY ELLEN (FERGUSON), 81, PITTSBURGH, PA, FORMERLY OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA

died on Monday, July 19, 2010 in Pittsburgh, PA.  She was born December 8, 1928 in Pittsburgh,PA, the daughter of the late J. Freeman Ferguson and Marion (Jones) Ferguson.  Nancy was a 1946 graduate of Blairsville High School.  She also graduated with an RN degree from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and worked for many years at the Indiana Hospital Emergency Department.  She was an active member of the Blairsville Century Club.  Nancy is survived by her daughter, Deborah Cameron & husband Douglas of Pittsburgh, PA, daughter, Kathleen Lutins & husband Jay of PIttsburgh, PA, daughter, Linda Helm of Pittsburgh, PA, son, Jeffrey C. Helm & wife Paula of Blairsville, PA, daughter, Barbara Fager & husband Edwin of Kernersville, NC, brother, Robert W. SULKOSKY, WALTER J. "BUTCH", 88, BLAIRSVILLE, PA

died on Monday, July 12, 2010 at Beacon Ridge, Indiana, PA.  He was born November 25, 1921 in Derry Twp., PA, the son of the late Stanley Sulkosky and Mary (Pialosky) Sulkosky.  He was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, PA.  Butch worked in the coal mines and retired from Latrobe road construction.  He was a member of the VFW Post #5821, Derry American Legion & Fraternal Order of Eagles #1488.   He served in the US Army during WW II in the European Theater in Germany & France.  He was awarded the Purple Heart.  He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lillian L. (Krall) Sulkosky, step-son, Allan Palmer of CA, daughter-in-law Brenda Rovison of Blairsville, PA. grandchild, Natalee C. Palmer of Ocean City, MD, grandchild, Lindsey Meola of Indiana, PA, brothers, Stanley, John & Anthony Sulkosky all of Blairsville, PA, sister, Theresa Guzik of Derry, PA and many Nieces & Nephews.  He is preceded in death by his step-son, Jeffrey L. died on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.  He was born July 17, 1931 in Blairsville, PA, the son of the late Lawrence P. Foust and Hellena (Little) Foust.  He retired from Latrobe Construction and was a member of the UMWA Construction Workers.  Gilbert was a member of the American Rose Society.  He enjoyed doing flower shows at county fairs.  He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn E. Foust of Blairsville, PA, son, Jason T. Foust of Blairsville, PA, son, Gabriel J. went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 9, 2010 surrounded by loving family.  She was born June 16, 1929 in Robinson, PA, the daughter of the late Michael and Annie (Penrose) Nelson.  She was a member of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Blairsville, PA.  She was also a member of the Robinson VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Eastern Star.  She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Burnell J. died on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Beacon Ridge, Indiana, PA.  She was born May 27, 1909 in Soldier, PA, the daughter of the late John and Victoria Oleck.  She was a member of the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville.  Marcella was a very active volunteer at the Blairsville Senior Center for over 30 years.  She was a loving Mother, Mother-in-law and Grandmother.  She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marcella F. O'Leary of Blairsville, PA with whom she made her home with over the past 7 years, son, Joseph H. O'Leary Jr. & wife Billie of Silsbee, TX, grandchild, Danial O'Leary Jr. & wife Lisa of Suffolk, VA, great grandchildren, Kelsey & Logan O'Leary and special friend, fMichael Lanfrankie.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. YAKEMIK, JR. MICHAEL WAYNE, 24, OF SALTSBURG, PA, FORMERLY OF BRUSH VALLEY   

died on Friday, July 2, 2010 in Saltsburg, Pa. He was born in Latrobe, Pa. on September 3, 1985. He is the son of Michael W.and Pamela (Bruner)  Yakemik Sr. Michael was a 2004 graduate of United High School and a graduate of Hiram G. Andrews school of jewelry. He enjoyed watching movies and spending time with his family. He is survived by his parents of Coal Run, Pa., his wife, Charissa Yakemik of Tyrone, daughter, Cheyanne Stafford of Johnstown and his sister Toni Yakemik of Saltsburg..He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Joyce Brunner of Clarksburg and his paternal grandfather, Michael Yakenik of Edgewood. Also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his maternal grandfather, James R. Bruner and his paternal grandmother, Jan Yakemik. died on Sunday June 27, 2010 at her home.  She was born in Blairsville, PA on December 29, 1963. She was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Volk Dowden. Rose worked as a line assembler for Excell 2 in Palmyra.  She is survived by her fiance, Shelby Swiger of Cleona, PA, three sons, Johnathan Eric Swiger of Cleveland, OH, Joshua Lee Swiger of Cleona, PA, and Phillip Michael Brazil of Ashtabula, OH, two brothers, James S. Dowden of Homer City, PA and William “Bill” Dowden of KY, three sisters, Marie Livingston of Home, PA, Diane L. LANAN, CHARLES DONALD, 73, SCHWENKSVILLE, PA

died on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Bethlen Home, Ligonier, PA.  He was born February 18, 1937 in Norristown, PA, the son of the late Horace H. Lanan and Frances A. (Mayberry) Lanan.  He was a member of the Congregation Beth Or, Maple Glen, PA.  Charles was an avid musician and trombone player having played with many area bands.  He worked for the borough of Norristown as a Public Works Director.  He worked professionally as an estimator with several area constructon companies and he served on the Lower Salford Planning Commission.  He is survived by his wife, Lona (Toll) Lanan of Schwenksville, PA.  They would have been married 55 years in August.  He is also survived by his son, Mark C. Lanan & wife Teri of Souderton, PA, daughter, Lona W. Wilson of Stowe, PA, son, John N. Lanan & wife Anne of Gloucester, VA, grandchildren, Lakia Wilson, Briana Wilson and Nathan Lanan, great grandchildren, John and Hanna Wintering and Sincere and Harmony Wilson, brother, Fred Lanan & wife Jean of Milwaukee, WI, brother, Ken Lanan & wife Lee of Goodyear, AZ and sister, Fritzi Wisdom & husband Bill of Bloomall, PA.  He is preceded in death by his grandchild, Maria Lanan Wintering, sister, Esther Trimble and brother, Horace Lanan Jr.  As per Charles' wishes, there will be no visitation.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Riverside Cemetery Mausoleum, Norristown, PA. CARLSON, GEORGEANNA, 85, BLAIRSVILLE, PA

died on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana, PA.  She was born September 15, 1924 in Blairsville, PA, the daughter of the late George and Anna (Woodall) Curnow.  She was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church, Blairsville, where she belonged to the United Methodist Women.  She enjoyed making quilts and playing cards in her card club. Georgeanna is survived by her son, Larry Carlson & wife Julia of Blairsville, PA, daughter, Beverly Dunmire of Blairsville, PA, grandchildren, Jennifer & James Dunmire and great grand daughter, Aubrey Stein.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Carlson who died in 1990 and brothers, J.W. Curnow and George Edwin Carlson.  The Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 13, 2010 from Noon-4 & 7-9 PM. died on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Victorian Gardens, Indiana, PA.  She was born on May 3, 1927 in Indiana, PA, the daughter of the late Arthur A. Anthony and Mildred (Hayes) Anthony.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville, PA.  Clara Jean worked for Bell Telephone.  She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #166 of Blairsville for over 60 years.  She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and traveling.  She is survived by her son, Brian A. Pender & wife Angie of Blairsville, PA, grandchildren, Krystal & Kayla Pender both of Blairsville, PA, special friend, Ashley Dirienzo of Blairsville, PA, sister, Becky Willetts & husband Woody of San Antonio, TX, brother, Art Anthony & wife Jean of Export, PA and several Nieces & Nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred B. Pender Sr. in 2006, son, Fred B. MARCOZZI, EDWARD A., 85, BLAIRSVILLE, PA

died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at his home.  He was born June 20, 1924 in Blairsville, PA, the son of the late Anthony and Adeline (DeLuca) Marcozzi.  Eddie was an active parishioner of SS Simon & Jude Church.  He was a singer in the Church's Men's Choir since 1949 and became its director for the past 30 years.  He also was a member of the SS Simon & Jude Church Cemetery Board.  He was the founder of the Blairsville VFW Marching Band.  He was a member of the Italian Society of Blairsville and the Greensburg Musical Society.  He was also an active member of the Blairsville Community Band and participated in numerous dance bands in this area since he was 16 years old.  Eddie was a veteran of WW II having served for three years in the 10th Mountain Infantry Division, ski troops, with rank of PFC.  He fought in the Italian Alps as a machine gunmen.  He was awarded the Bronze Star medal for heroism.  He graduated from Blairsville High School with the class of 1942 of which he was Class President.  He worked for Conrail Corp. for 42 years and retired as an examiner in Labor & Wage in 1984. For many years Eddie was a faithful helper at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Blairsville, where he will be deeply missed.  Eddie is survived by his sons, Anthony L. Marcozzi & wife Tammy of Geneva, IL and Edward M. Marcozzi & wife Heather of Indiana, PA, grandchildren, Anthony, Taylor and Ethan Marcozzi, sister-in-law, Helen Marcozzi of Murrysville, PA and several Nieces & Nephews.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Antoinette (DeGrandis) Marcozzi in 2002, and brothers, Arthur and Robert Marcozzi.  The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.  A wake service will be held on Wednesday evening at 8:30 PM in the Funeral Home.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 10:00 AM at SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA with Fr. PARCHUKE, STELLA M. (GRINDER), 93, BLAIRSVILLE, PA

died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, PA.  She was born May 27, 1917 in Blairville, PA, the daughter of the late Mike and Mila (Kosic) Grinder.  She was a member of the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA.  Stella had retired from Torrance State Hospital having worked in the Dietary Department. She is survived by three daughters and two sons, Patty Calhoun and husband John of Dexter, MI, Nancy Muir and husband David of Des Moines, Iowa, Francis Parchuke and wife Daine of Wilmington, NC, Norman Parchuke of Coral and Rosemary Johnston and husband John of Blairsville. Stella is also survived by many grand, great grand and great great grand children. She was preceded in death by two brothers Mike and Pete Grinder and  two sisters Mary Snyder and Frances Ross. She was also preceded by her daughter-in-law, Charlotte Parchuke. In keeping with Stella's wishes, there will be no public visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, Pa. Rev. Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant. He was a member of the Society of Mining Engineers. He is survived by his son, Michael D. Bartholow of Blairsville, PA, son, Scott E. Bartholow of Blairsville, PA, brother, David B. He had worked at J.& L. Linkenfelter Construction Co & was a member of the Teamsters. He is survived by daughter, Jane Bolen & husband R.T. of Derry, PA, sons, Theodore Palmer & wife Inez of Derry, PA, Charles Palmer & wife Bonnie of Derry, PA, Donald Palmer & wife Pauline of Blairsville, PA and Elmer H. died on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at her home.  She was born August 5, 1911 in Smith's Station, PA, the daughter of the late Angelo and Margerita (Fontanetti) Venturini.  She was a member of the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA.  She retired from Torrance State Hospital in the Dietary Department.  Mary was a member of the Fannie Sellins Lodge, Avonmore, PA and was a 50 year member of the CDA Court of St. Theresa.  She loved cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She is survived by her daughter, Martha Jane Battaglia & husband Mario of Latrobe, PA, son, James A. Quilico & wife Marilyn of Parrish, FL, grandchildren, Tony, Tom & Rick Battaglia, Lisa Ryan, Scott Quilico and Christiane Wheeler, great grandchildren, Mario Battaglia, Julia Battaglia and Madison Ryan and brother-in-law, Peter Quilico of Long Branch, NJ.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Joakim "Jack" Quilico who died in 1996, sisters, Ida Forni, Julie Martz and Dirce Pesci and brother, Joseph Venturini.  The Family will receive friends on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.  The rosary will be recited on Friday at 3:00 PM in the Funeral Home.  A wake service will be held on Friday at 8:30 PM in the Funeral Home.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM in SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA.   Fr. DUTKO, HELEN E., 89, BLAIRSVILLE, PA

died on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at her home.  She was born May 29, 1920 in Johnstown, PA, the daughter of the late Carl and Elizabeth (Levay) Herbs.  She was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, PA where she was a very active member.  She had worked as a cashier at Bergman's Hardware for many years.  Helen enjoyed her grandchildren.  She is survived by her daughter, Susan L. Herby & husband Ralph of Blairsville, PA, grandchild, Camille Herby of Pittsburgh, PA, grandchild, Nathan Herby of Blairsville, PA and sister, Marion Stoltz of Patton, PA.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Dutko who died in 1982 and sisters, Betty McCorquodle, Lois Gephart and Dorothy Cooper.  The Family will receive friends at the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, PA from 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 15, 2010 where funeral services will be held at 11:15 AM.  Rev. CASEY, THOMAS F., 77, OCEAN CITY, NJ, FORMERLY OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA

died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, NJ.  He was born April 12, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late Henry and Kathleen (Gallagher) Casey.  He was a member of the St. Augustine R.C. Church, Ocean City, NJ and formerly attended SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA.  Thomas had received a Bachelor degree from Marist College and a Masters degree from the University of Notre Dame.  He taught English at St. Joseph's School in Greensburg and was a professor of English at Notre Dame.  He was also a principal of Leary School in Winchester, VA.   Thomas was a past president and treasurer of the Blairsville Kiwanis.  He worked as a  Cryptographer in the US Army.  He is survived by his son, Daniel P. Casey & wife Beth of Scranton, PA, brother, Rev. Monsigonor John Casey of Tennessee and his very close friends, Joe and Linda Murphy.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Casey who died in 2001.  The Family will receive friends on Friday, May 7, 2010 from 8:30 AM till 9:30 AM.  A Funeral Mass will also be held on Friday at 10:00 AM in SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA.  Rev. died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA.  She was born October 13, 1922 in Greene County, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Emma (Rankin) Lewis.  She was a member of the First Assembly of God, Blairsville, PA.  Dora enjoyed going to the Senior Center and also enjoyed doing crafts.  She is survived by her son, Craig Horn & wife Christy of Nebraska, daughter, Janet Moore & husband Larry of Ohio, daughter, Carol Calvert & husband Jerry of Waynesburg, PA and grandchildren, Eric, Megan, David and Jonathan.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Horn in 1996, grandchild, Adam Horn, 4 Brothers and 1 Sister.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home.  Rev. died Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Keeper of the Flame, Morewood, Blairsville, PA.  She was born February 23, 1931 in Socialville,PA, the daughter of the late William R. and Pearl (Bennett) Wertz.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville, PA where she was a member of the Rebecca Circle.  She had worked at Federal Lab in Tunnelton, PA.  Alice Joan was also a member of the BPOE #406 Ladies Auxiliary and OES #166 both of Blairsville, PA.  She is survived by her brothers, Roy G. Bennett & wife Lois of Blairsville, PA and Victor Wertz and wife Billie Lou of Woodbridge, VA.  She is preceded in death by her husband, John R.
