Edward R. Sweeney, Jr.

Edward R. Sweeney, Jr., 73 of  Blairsville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at his home.  He was born October 29, 1950 in Latrobe, PA, the son of the late Edward R. Sweeney, Sr. and Ann (Garrigan) Sweeney.

Ed was a 1968 graduate of Derry Area High School and a 1972 IUP graduate. He was a director at the American Cancer Society and was a member of SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville.  Ed enjoyed reading, music, traveling, water sports, canoeing and spending time in his pool.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Pohland & husband, David, Latrobe, PA; sister, Barbara Jellison, Latrobe, PA; nieces: Jennifer, Elizabeth, Kathryn, Erin & Amanda; beloved aunt, Jean McKenna; many cousins and great nieces & nephews: Michael, Sara, Julianne, Benjamin & Andrew.  Edward was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Richard Jellison.

A memorial mass will be held in St. Martin Parish, New Derry, PA on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 10 AM with Fr. Salvatore Lamendola.
