GARVIN, ALICE (HAND), 89 OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA
passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA. He was born on November 28, 1928 in Johnstown, PA, the daughter of the late Charles Lee Hand and Bertha (St. Clair) Hand. She was a retired bank officer at the National Bank of the Commonwealth. Alice was a member of the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Blairsville where she was the organist for many years. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers, especially roses. She was a member of the IUP Faculty Wives, the Indiana County Historical Society and the Clan Sinclair Association. Alice is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. Madaj & husband, Edmund, Manchester, MI; daughter, Susan Lee Rubal & husband, Anthony of Round Hill, VA; grandchild, Barbara Ann Key & husband, David, Holly Springs , NC; grandchild, Stephanie Rubal, Winchester, VA; great grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann, Lauren & Tyler Key, Holly Springs, NC and also several Nieces & Nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Alex" Garvin in 2014 and sisters: Louise Robson, Sara Cullen and Lucy Aliquo. In keeping with Alice's wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Saturday, May 05, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Arthur C. Dilg will officiate. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 38 W. Campbell St., Blairsville, PA 15717.
