Marie Lychalk Obituary

LYCHALK, MARIE P., 69 OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA

passed away peacefully after a two and a half year battle with breast cancer at her home with her family by her side on July 28, 2019.  She was born on March 2,1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter of the late Pearl P. Stout.  She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dennis and her two sons Michael of Blairsville and Eric and his wife Nichole and their sons Wyatt and Carter of Indiana.  She is also survived by her two cousins Ron and Sonny of whom she was very close while growing up in Portage. Marie will be sorely missed by her good friends Kathy, Amy, Frankie, Kenny, Rosie, Patty, Ron, Rosemary, Connie, Jim, Jan, Shirley, Leanne, Abby, Nicholas, Grace, Augi, and Haley. Marie was a 1968 graduate of Portage Area High School who went on to be a devoted nurse for 25 years at Torrance State Hospital.  She loved animals especially all of her dogs and cats.  Marie loved nature and camping with trips to Benezette to see the elk.  She also enjoyed cooking and the occasional trips to the Gettysburg National Park with her family.  In her last few years, Marie spent her time at Friendship Village in Bedford, Pennsylvania.  She was a member at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church. Marie would also like to thank all of the dedicated doctors and nurses who took care of her these past few years. She was grateful to the VNA Hospice nurses of Indiana especially Nurse Jeanne whom she grew fond of and close.  The love and support they gave her towards the end will forever touch the lives of her family.  Marie was very proud to be a nurse and was especially proud of the nurses who took care of her through her battle with cancer.   At Marie’s request, there will be no viewing.  A private ceremony will be held at the Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc., Blairsville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Four Footed Friends, 220 Beck Road, Indiana, PA 15701.
