died suddenly on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home.  He was born February 13, 1935 in Erie, PA, the son of the late Everett O. Andrews and  Helen (Loftus) Andrews Traphagan.   He graduated from Erie Academy High School and served in the US Army with the 291st Field Artillery Battalion in Germany from 1954-1956.  After returning to Erie he was employed by Penelec at the Front Street Generating Station.  He was a boys baseball coach and a member of the East Erie Turners, Greek Catholic Slovak Club and also the Sacred Heart Usher's Club.  Don married Mary E. Schloss Andrews on October 19, 1957 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Erie, PA.  They moved to Blairsville in 1969 where they raised five children.  Don completed his 44 year career with Penelec at the Homer City Generating Station.  He was a member of SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville.  He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, hunting and reading.  Don was an avid sports fan and especially loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.  Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Andrews of Blairsville, PA; son, Patrick  M. Andrews of Erie, PA; daughter, Jane Lee & husband, Edward of Spartansburg, PA; son, Donald P. Andrews, Jr. & wife, Dianne of Saxonburg, PA; daughter, Susan Ewen & husband, Scott of Shelocta, PA and grandchildren:  Clayton Lee, Alyssa Andrews, Mitchell Andrews, Christian Andrews, Laura Lee Jones & husband Jared, Bryan Andrews, Ehrin Lee, Benjamin Andrews & Paul Ewen.  He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Andrews in 1987.  The family will receive friends at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc., Blairsville, PA on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM  and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  A wake service will be held Wednesday at 8:30 PM in the Funeral Home.  Prayers of transfer will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 9:15 AM prior to a  funeral mass at SS Simon & Jude Church at 10:00 AM.  Fr. Stephen R. Bugay  will officiate.  VFW Post #5821 & the American Legion Post #0407 will conduct military services Thursday morning.  Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blairsville Public Library, 113 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA 15717  or Emmaus Soup Kitchen, 218 E. 11st Street, Erie, PA 16503
