Elmer J. "Ammy" Bertoncini

BERTONCINI, ELMER J. "AMMY", 97 OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA

passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Redstone Highland Health Care Center, Greensburg, PA.  He was born May 11, 1924 in Brenizer, PA, son of the late Joseph Bertoncini and Ernesta (Descrimi) Bertoncini.  He was a member of SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA.   Ammy had worked for Blairsville Machine Company for 42 years.  He loved gardening & supplying the neighbors with vegetables.  He was an avid Steelers fan and loved his Children & Grandchildren.  He is survived by his daughter,  Amy Joy Bertoncini, Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Jamie Penich & husband, Ronald, Greensburg, PA; son, Michael Bertoncini & wife, Mary Jo, Blairsville, PA; daughter, Leann Thelin & husband, William, OH; grandchildren, Jessie Penich & Katrina Montgomery & husband, Jake; great grandchild, Hailey Montgomery; step-grandchildren, Nell & Zoey Hartley; brother, Thomas Bertoncini & wife, Deanna, Blairsville, PA and also many Nieces & Nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty J. (Kish) Bertoncini in 2016; sisters: Vilma McGill, Emma Esposito, Lena Trausi, Irene Steves, Lenore Farley & Lillian Silvestri; brothers: Eugene "Algie" and Wilbert "Wibby" Bertoncini and son-in-law, Joe Nickerson. The family will receive friends at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.  A wake service will be held at 7 PM Friday evening in the Funeral Home.  Prayers of transfer will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 9:15 AM in the Funeral Home, prior to a funeral mass at 10 AM in SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA with Fr. Stephen R. Bugay officiating.  VFW Post #5821 & the American Legion Post #0407 will conduct a graveside military service in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
