Frank P. Smithula

Frank P. Smithula, 70 of  Monroeville, PA surrendered willingly & peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born May 07, 1953 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Joseph Smithula and Elizabeth (Kurpiel) Smithula.

Frank was a member of Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in Murrysvile, PA.  He was a graduate of Geibel Catholic High School in 1971 and former Alliance College in Cambridge Springs.  Frank retired from Verizon as an electrical technician.  He was an avid golfer, having played in several leagues.  Frank loved all sports, especially Pitt Panther basketball.  He was a member of the Panther Club.  Frank enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Diogee.  

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Jo (Wodowski) Smithula, Monroeville, PA; son, Michael Smithula & wife, Kelley, Monroeville, PA; grandchildren, Gus & Dotti Smithula; sister, Kathie Colonna & husband, Al, Greensburg, PA and also many Nieces & Nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 25 W. Market St. Blairsville, PA 15717 on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 4-7 PM.  Prayers of transfer will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 9:15 AM, prior to a funeral mass in the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA at 10:00 AM.  Monsignor Michael Begolly and Fr. Segundino Laude will co-officiate.  Interment will be held in the SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, Pennsylvania.

It was not in God's will to heal Frank but to take him by the hand to HIS house without suffering.
