Geneva Ramona Cushion

CUSHION, GENEVA RAMONA, 81 OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA

passed into the arms of angels with her family by her side in the early morning hours of Thursday, November 14, 2019 at her home. The daughter of Theodore E. and Julia (Toldi) Gordish, Ramona was born on May 30, 1938, in Iselin, PA.  A graduate of Laura Lamar, she went on to work as a secretary for the FBI in Washington, DC, where she met and married the love of her life, Jim. She was of the Catholic faith and devoted herself to caring for her family, her flowers, and every stray that crossed her doorstep.  Surviving are her loving husband of 62 years, James Cushion, whom she married on November 23, 1957; two children, Sandra Lee Dettore (Daniel) in Blairsville, and James Randall Cushion (fiancée Barb) in Blairsville; three grandchildren, Julia Dettore Cawthra (William) in South Carolina, Alaina Dettore in Pittsburgh, and Jason Cushion in Latrobe; two great-granddaughters, Annabelle and Eliza Cawthra in South Carolina; her brother, Theodore P. Gordish (Virginia) in Homer City; her sister and best friend, Vivian Decker in Blairsville; and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Pearl Sleigh; and a brother, Edward Gordish.  Ramona will be remembered for her laughter and beautiful smile, enjoyment of music, and love of a good card game.  The family would like to thank the staff of Excela Westmoreland Hospice for their caring and support. In keeping with her wishes, services will be private. Fr. Stephen R. Bugay will officiate.  Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Excela Health Home Care & Hospice in Ramona’s name, c/o Latrobe Area Charitable Foundation, 1 Mellon Way, Latrobe, PA 15650.
