Herman L. "Sonny" Shannon, Jr.

Herman L. "Sonny" Shannon,Jr., 90 of Blairsville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA. He was born January 16, 1933 in Blairsville, PA, the son of the late Herman L. Shannon, Sr. and Lucinda (Leonard) Shannon.  Sonny was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.  He owned & operated Shannon's Auto Wreckers.  Sonny was a member of the Conemaugh Valley Beagle Club and had many interests including hunting, CB radios, "Copper Pipe", taking care of his house and cutting grass.   He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lucille "Peg" (Silvis) Shannon, Blairsville, PA; daughter, Janice Ewing & husband, Ken, Torrance, PA; daughter, Debra Crawford, Blairsville, PA; daughter, Sherrie Shannon & husband, Rick Schneider, Indiana, PA; son, Herman Shannon, III & wife, Virginia, Blairsville, PA; grandchildren: Amy, Ken, Casey, Brandon, Cody, Clint, Shelly, Michael & Christopher; 15 Great Grandchildren; siblings: Ella Ruffner, Tom Shannon, Connie Volpe, Cathy Timko & husband, Tom & Bill Shannon & wife, Karen and also many Nieces & Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Ray Crawford and siblings: Esther Campbell, Vera Foster, Betty Staff, Shirley Bertolino & Grace Shubuck.

The family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 25 W. Market St. Blairsville, PA 15717 on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held in the Ferguson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM.  Pastor Dawn Krishart will officiate.  Interment will be held in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, Pennsylvania.  Blairsville Military Honor Guard and the US Army will conduct graveside services.
