LaVerne Varrato

VARRATO, LAVERNE (WYLIE), 85 OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA

passed away on Thursday, December 05, 2019  at UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.  She was born September 13, 1934 in McKeesport, PA, the daughter of the late John Wylie and Emma (Schutte) Wylie.  LaVerne retired after 36 years of teaching in the Blairsville School District. She had taught 2nd grade at the old Burrell School.  She enjoyed playing cards with her friends for many many years.  LaVerne enjoyed traveling to Nags Head and skiing for many years.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She is survived by her son, Marti Varrato & wife, Cindy, Blairsville, PA; son, Robby Varrato & wife, Deanna, Latrobe, PA; son, Colin Varrato, Blairsville, PA; grandchildren:  Siobhan James & husband, Robert, Rory Varrato, Alexa Varrato, Giano Varrato & wife, Sara and Kenzie Hamacher & husband, Derek; great grandchildren: Jackson & Isabella James and Amelia Ballengee; brother, John T. Wylie & wife, Tina, Henderson, NV; sister-in-law, Rita Krieger, FL and many Nieces & Nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Varrato in 2013; grandson, Noah Varrato in 2018 and her mother-in-law, Marie Varrato.  In keeping with LaVerne's wishes, there will be no visitation or services.  Interment will be in the SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.  If so desired, memorial donations may be made in LaVerne's name  to the Blairsville Elementary School, 106 School Lane, Blairsville, PA 15717.
