SHERMAN, MARIE D. "RIE", 88 OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA

God called Marie D. “Rie” Sherman, 88, of Blairsville, PA, home on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. 

Marie was born November 25, 1933, in Center Twp., PA, the daughter of the late Thomas Sherman and Delia (Dubose) Nance.  Loved and cared for by Marie Davis, “Grandma.”  

Marie was a hard worker having retired from FMC, Homer City, PA.  She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, Blairsville, PA.  She was very active in her church choir.  “Rie” enjoyed dancing, basketball, shopping, and anything chocolate.  She was a member of the Chorus and Charm Club.  Most of all “Rie” loved life and was filled with joy, giving and love.  She had a contagious laugh, remarkable voice, and the gift of caring. 

Marie was preceded in death by her grandma, Marie Davis; grandfather, James Davis; father, Thomas Sherman; mother, Delia (Dubose) Nance; and brothers:  Thomas, Emanuel and Hillard Sherman and James Nance, Jr. and Eugene Nance.  

She leaves to cherish her memory, cousin Joan Reese and husband, Monroe; cousin, Alfonso Davis Jr.; godchild, Jay Matthews; sisters:  Delia Nance, Carolyn Nance and Ardyth Mae Nance; brother, Drew Nance and wife, Linda and also a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

           The Prayer Perfect 

Dear Lord! Kind Lord! Gracious Lord! 

I pray though wilt look on all I love, Tenderly today! 

Weed their hearts of weariness, Scatter every care.  

Dow a wake of Angel Wings Winnowing the air. 

Bring unto the sorrowing All release from pain;  

Let the lips of laughter Overflow again;  

And with all the needy, O divide, I pray,  

This vast treasure of content, That is mine today! 

All funeral arrangements will be private.  Masks are required for anybody attending the services.  

Interment will be held in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, Pennsylvania.
