Richard J. "Rick" Banks

BANKS, RICHARD J. "RICK", 74 OF INDIANA, PA

passed away on Thursday, January 06, 2022 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.  He was born February 09, 1947 in Altoona, PA, the son of the late Richard E. Banks and Jeanette (Stone) Banks.  Rick was of the Lutheran Faith.  He was a 1965 graduate of Blairsville High School and had attended IUP.  Rick was a US Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War aboard the USS King DLG-10 and was also in the Naval Reserve for many years.  He was retired and also ran a family business, Magellan Rug Company in Indiana, PA.  He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and also the American Legion Post #141, Indiana, PA.  He loved fishing, hunting, music, especially Jazz and was a big Pittsburgh Penguins fan and Penn State football fan.  Rick is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen (Vresilovic) Banks, Indiana, PA; son, Richard J. Banks, II, Indiana, PA; son, Matthew D. Banks, Indiana, PA; grandson, Henry James Banks; sister, Jennifer Varrato & husband, Colin, Blairsville, PA; sister, Julie Davis & husband, Michael, Blairsville, PA and also several Nieces & Nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  The family will receive friends at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc., 25 W. Market St. Blairsville, PA 15717 on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM.  Rev. John Smaligo  will officiate.  VFW Post #5821 & the American Legion Post #0407 will conduct military services Wednesday morning.  Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, Pennsylvania.
