Robert W. Kunkle

KUNKLE, ROBERT W., 88 OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA

passed away on Wednesday, December 02, 2020 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital, Latrobe, PA.  He was born January 26, 1932 in Indiana, PA, the son of the late Floyd Kunkle and Jean (Kunkle) Kunkle. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville.  He owned and operated Kunkle's Apple Orchard for many years.  He was a graduate of Indiana High School Class of 1951.  He earned an Associates Degree in business at Pitt.  He was a retired US Army Veteran serving for 21 years.  He retired as a Captain and had served during the Korean War.  He retired after 42 years as a regional manager for Bell of PA, the predecessor of Verizon.  He served 43 years as the chairman of the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority and was named a chairman emeritus.  He served 15 years as chairman of Indiana County GOP and was president of the Indiana County Young Republicans Men's Club.  He was a director of the board for Patrons Mutual Insurance.  He had been president of the Indiana County United Way.  He was a former Mason and VFW member.  He was a district chairman of the Chestnut Ridge Chapter of the Boy Scouts and chairman of Camp Seth Mack in Indiana.  He was also a former president of the Blairsville Saltsburg School Board.   He is survived by his son, Brian W. Kunkle & wife, Tracy Atlanta, GA; son, Jeffrey A. Kunkle, Pittsburgh, PA; son, Robert W. Kunkle, Jr. & wife, Donna, New Smyrna, FL; son, Thomas L. Kunkle & wife, Karen, Blairsville, PA; daughter, Jennifer D. Stepanik & husband, Ken, Venetia, PA; daughter, Brenda C. Morrow & husband, Matthew, Indiana, PA; daughter, Linda S. Medvetz & husband, Tony, Indiana, PA; daughter, Vicki Y. Vittone & husband, Michael, Ligonier, PA; son, Gregory T. Kunkle , Indiana, PA and 21 Grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendol Y. (Lewis) Kunkle in 2013; son, Michael Kunkle in 1979; brothers, Richard & Stanley Kunkle and sister, Dory Muller.  The Family will receive friends at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc., 25 W. Market St. Blairsville, PA 15717 on Sunday, December 06, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  A private funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday, December 07, 2020 at 11:00 AM.  Masks will be required in the Funeral Home.  If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
