THOMPSON, SHIRLEY M., 80 OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA (DERRY TWP.)

Mrs. Thompson passed away peacefully at her home shortly after 4am on Saturday, September 12, 2020.  She was born May 08, 1940 in Clyde, PA, the daughter of the late Alonza A Brendlinger and Alice M (Montgomery) Brendlinger.  Shirley retired from Torrance State Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 2002. During her successful career she had also worked as an Emergency Room Nurse at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown, PA .  She belonged to the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall in Blairsville, PA. where she enjoyed full time ministering as part of her daily service to God. Shirley loved her 45 year career in nursing, serving God, helping others, cooking, crocheting, knitting and spending time with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.  She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jonathan W. Thompson, Blairsville, PA; son, Jeffrey L. Thompson, Clyde, PA; daughter, Johnna Lynn Ripple & husband, Lloyd, Coral, PA; daughter, Jacquelyn D. Politoske, Philadelphia, PA; step-daughter, JoAnn C. Thompson, Indiana, PA and Mandee Manchis, Homer City, PA; grandchildren: Jason, Eric, and Deanna Harris & Alex C. Politoske; great grandchildren: Alex, Logan & Abby Harris, Kaidance & Breigh Thomas, Norah, Weston Harris & Jessica Ringler; sister, Joyce Shaffer, Robinson, PA; brother, James Brendlinger & wife, Jeannie, Armagh, PA; sister, Sandy Jarvis, New Florence, PA; brother, Danny Brendlinger & wife, Emma, Bolivar, PA and sister, Sharon Lowther & husband, Richard, Clyde, PA.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Brendlinger and step-son, Jonathan F. Thompson.  In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no visitation.  A memorial service led by Gene Jones will be on Zoom on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM.  Zoom Meeting ID: 826 6882 4569 and Passcode: 622267.  A committal service will be held in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM.
