William J. Parks Sr.

PARKS SR., WILLIAM J., 90 OF PALMERTON, PA

passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 at his home.  He was born  April 17, 1929 in Blairsville, PA, the son of the late Joseph William Parks and Mildred (Freeman) Parks.  He was a member of the Black Lick Presbyterian Church.  Bill was a truck driver for Nickles Bakery for 35 years.  He was a US Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War.  Bill was a member of the VFW Post #5821 & the American Legion Post #0407 both of Blairsville.  He loved camping and working in his yard.  He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marybelle (Gamble) Parks, Palmerton, PA; daughter, Bonnie Berkey & husband, Jim, Blairsville, PA; daughter, Judie Parks, Tampa, FL; son, William Parks, Jr. & wife, Jennifer, Stuart, FL; daughter, Mildred Warren & husband, Willie, Jeanette, PA; step-son, Jack Ellison & wife, Darlene, WV; step-daughter, Brenda Sherba & husband, John, Blairsville, PA; step-son, Robert Ellison & wife, Wanita, Blairsville, PA; step-son, David Deyarmin, Homer City, PA; 16 Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren; brother, George Saxion & wife, Jane, Hermitage, PA; brother, Richard Saxion & wife, Sandy, Greenville, PA; brother, Wayne Saxion & wife, Connie, Andover, OH and sister, Carolyn Thesher & husband, Roy, Winchester, VA.  He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Beatrice (Houston) Parks in 1990 and his brother, James Saxion.  The family will receive friends at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, 25 W. Market St. Blairsville, PA 15717 on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.  A funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Katie Stears and Pastor Rusty McClurg will co-officiate.   VFW Post #5821 & The American Legion Post #0407 will conduct graveside military services Thursday morning.  Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.  If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice Indiana County, 850 Hospital Rd., Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
